The Pony Paddock

Among other animals, we now have a pony at the Little River Community School. "Sparky" is an older lesson pony that now lives in the paddock with his friend, a goat named Matzo Ball, as well as six Bard-Rock chickens. The students have learned how to handle and work around equines safely.

The kids are involved with daily barn chores, which include: feeding, leading, and grooming, as well as scooping manure from the paddock. They have even had the opportunity to learn how to saddle, bridle, and ride Sparky around the paddock. Sparky is a great teacher as he is very gentle and cooperative. He has been a great addition to the Little River Community School program.
